I consider myself somewhat of a body scrub addict, but every scrub I’ve used has come in a jar. The latest body scrub trend has been those that come in these chic bags and they’ve been on my to-try list for some time. So, when bitchinskin posted looking for bloggers to review their scrub I jumped on it, not only because of the unique packaging, but also because of the ingredients: matcha and peppermint … hello, get on my body right now.
While using a scrub from a bag is a little strange of an experience at first, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Being in a bag, the scrub is a drier formula than most that I am used to (think One Love Organics or Rachel’s Plan Bee). I was worried that this would mean it was super exfoliating but lacking in moisture. I was surprised to find that this was not the case at all.
The exfoliation is by far the most intense of any of my scrubs, but sometimes ya need a good sloughing off of all that dead skin. And, because it has coconut oil in it, it is wonderfully moisturizing at the same time.
I did not use the scrub on my face because of my aversion to coconut oil, but for those of you who do not have issues with this ingredient bitchinskin notes that it is wonderful for acne and hyperpigmentation on the face. I have been using mine on the hyperpigmentation left on my back and while I haven’t seen results in the fading of color yet, my back does feel super smooth!
My favorite use for the scrub so far has been to massage it into my shoulders, back, legs, and arms after a hard workout and give myself a little massage while also exfoliating. The scrub smells so invigoratingly of peppermint, it is a wonderful pick-me-up. Peppermint essential oil is great for tense muscles … and damn if my skin doesn’t feel bitchin afterwards too.
